CBS46 News ATLANTA (CBS46) – The first gun range in the city of Atlanta just opened its doors, but critics complain that the gun range is too close to neighborhoods. Stoddard’s Range and Guns is located on Bishop Street near Atlantic Station. At more than 30,000 square feet, the facility is massive. The owners hope to offer something for everyone. “We were very anxious to be in the middle of everything,” said Ken Baye, who is a co-owner of the facility. “There was a tremendous demand here for people who wanted a place to shoot.” The range offers two dozen shooting lanes, a large retail space and dozens of guns to buy or even rent. Atlanta’s first indoor shooting range has unique feel By Veronica Waters Atlanta — Food truck hookups, an airy patio with a big screen TV, and a 1,000-square-foot Beretta-branded store within a store with guns and apparel. Atlanta’s first commercial indoor shooting range within city limits is officially open. Stoddard’s Range and Guns is expansive, at 34,000 square feet inside an old plumbing supply warehouse on Bishop street in west Midtown, near Atlantic Station. Even though some of the waffle ceilings are original, the decor is sleekly industrial-modern in feel, spacious and brightly lit. “We really wanted this to be as comfortable as walking into an Apple store,” says Stoddard’s co-owner Ken Baye.   Full WSB Radio Story

By Sue Rodman What is it about guns that draws in boys? I’m not a big gun enthusiast and I’ll be honest, I almost cancelled my appointment to visit Stoddard’s Range & Guns. It was hump day of a long week with an even longer week ahead, plus what was I doing taking my boys to shoot gun. Thank goodness I felt obligated or I would have missed one of my favorite field trips. Here’s why. Stoddard’s Range & Guns feels a little like walking onto the set of a History Channel show. Upon arriving at Stoddard’s Range & Guns, we were warmly greeted by owners Michael Halbreich and Ken Baye. Michael is a gun enthusiast who can tell you a story about every gun in the case, while Ken fills in the blanks and adds a laugh that makes you smile. In between are co-workers, brought into the scene when specific expertise is required. Eventually the older boys and I got around to shooting on two of the 12, 75-foot-long rifle-rated lanes, but not before we took a Hollywood Tour of Guns.
